Ronaldo Reacts To Being Trolled By Opposition Fans

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, had a priceless reaction to being booed by Al Ittihad fans during a Saudi Pro League match in which he was captaining Al Nassr.

The match was a top-of-the-table clash with Al Nassr leading by two points, and it was an away fixture for the team. As the players walked out of the tunnel of the King Abdullah Sports City stadium, they were greeted by a massive tifo which read ‘Nightmare’. However, Ronaldo was met with loud chants in favour of his rival, Lionel Messi, as he warmed up.

When Ronaldo’s face flashed up on the big screen, he was loudly booed by the home supporters. But, as the 38-year-old is used to the jeers from opposition fans, he smirked and smiled before coldly nodding his head. The Al Ittihad fans had also taunted him with Messi chants during the Saudi Super Cup semi-final in January, which Nassr lost 3-1.

Despite the hostile environment, Ronaldo looked sharp in the early moments of the game, wowing fans with a filthy nutmeg. The referee for the game was Mateu Lahoz, who has previously officiated games in the Saudi Pro League involving Ronaldo and his long-time rival Messi.

However, Messi called for FIFA to drop the Spanish referee after he brandished 18 yellow cards in Argentina’s penalty shoot-out win over the Netherlands. As a result, Lahoz was removed from the remaining four games.

Ronaldo also has a history with Lahoz, having once grabbed his private parts and insulted him during an El Clasico fixture. The incident earned Ronaldo a five-game ban, which included a suspension for the first four La Liga games of the 2017/18 season. Despite this, Lahoz was chosen to officiate the high-profile game between Al Nassr and Al Ittihad, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ronaldo has been in fine form for Al Nassr, scoring eight goals in six Saudi Pro League games. However, with his contract set to expire in June 2022, there has been speculation about his future with the club. The Portuguese superstar has been linked with a return to Sporting CP, the club where he began his professional career. But, for now, Ronaldo is focused on leading Al Nassr to their first league title since the 2018/19 season.
