Ronaldo didn’t want Conte at Man United

Imagine Manchester United had they finished the season with Conte as manager, or if Tottenham never had Conte. Perhaps, United would have had a totally different season as opposed to how it went down for them this season, or maybe Arsenal could have finished in the top 4 as opposed to London rivals, Tottenham.

It almost happened though. Conte was almost announced as Manchester United manager as opposed to keeping Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in the job till Daniel Levy went in for the Italian boss. What then happened?

It has been reported that the reason why the Manchester club failed to pursue the current Spurs manager was because of its star forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, as claims have it that the Portuguese Legend blocked the club from bringing in Antonio Conte earlier in the season.

According to MEN, Conte was favorably considered for the manager’s role, had Ole Gunnar Solskjaer been sacked earlier in November. It is understood United ultimately chose not to hire the Italian because of Ronaldo.

It is said that the club’s hierarchy had decided to consult the big players in the squad before they came at any conclusion with Ronaldo said to be against the move and ‘blocking’ Conte’s move to Manchester.

As fate had it, the Italian ended up moving to Tottenham Hotspur and helping the club achieve its aim of a top 4 finish and the quest for Champions League football.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils brought in gegen pressing legend, Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis to help move the club forward before appointing Erik ten Hag on permanent basis.
