Romelu Lukaku gets into fight at Inter Milan training ground

Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku forced into training ground fight ahead of Champions League preparations.

Inter Milan’s preparations for their Champions League quarter-final clash with Benfica have been disrupted after a training ground fight broke out between two players.

The incident occurred during a rondo drill, with goalkeeper Andre Onana making a late challenge on Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Brozovic appeared livid with his teammate and kicked a towel in disgust. It looked like the pair would clash when they squared up to each other, but Romelu Lukaku sprinted over to separate both players. Danilo D’Ambrosio, the 34-year-old defender who has been at Inter since 2014, also helped calm the situation.

The incident could not have come at a worse time for Inter Milan, who are looking to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League. The Italian giants currently hold a two-goal advantage going into the second leg against Benfica, but the Portuguese side is expected to provide stiff competition. Furthermore, Inter Milan’s morale may have been affected by their shock defeat to Monza on Saturday.

Despite the setback, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi remains confident about his team’s chances. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Benfica game, he acknowledged that it would be a “complicated” fixture but stressed the importance of playing well. Inzaghi also noted that Inter Milan’s path in cup competitions has been strong, even though their league form has been disappointing.

Inter Milan’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Benfica will take place on Wednesday night. The club will be hoping to avoid any further disruptions and progress to the next round of the competition.
