Rivers State Police launch manhunt after gunmen ambushed and murdered a police officer
Police have launched a manhunt after yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked and murdered a policeman in Rivers State.
The gunmen had an upper hand on the security operative believed to be an Assistant Superintendent, on Wednesday, June 29 after closing hours from his place of work in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the State.
This prompted the Rivers state Police Command to organize a manhunt for his killers.
Confirming the killing, the spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka has ordered an investigation into the incident with a view to unraveling the circumstances leading to the attack and bringing the perpetrators to book.
Koko said;
“He was returning to his house after work around 9 pm or so when they ambush him. We will ensure they are fished out.
“Already the commissioner of police has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to book.”
