Rio Ferdinand blasts Man Utd for selling Danny Welbeck

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has voiced his discontent with the club’s decision to sell five players, stating that it was a mistake to part ways with Jonny Evans, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, and the Da Silva twins.

Ferdinand expressed his concerns during a discussion on Vibe With Five, where he highlighted the significance of these players in Manchester United’s success and lamented their departure from Old Trafford.

In 2015, United sold Jonny Evans to West Bromwich Albion for a reported fee of £6 million. Hernandez, on the other hand, joined Real Madrid on a season-long loan in 2014, marking a temporary separation from the club.

Additionally, Danny Welbeck departed Manchester United in 2014 under the management of Louis van Gaal.

“They were the lifeblood of Man United, they all came through the system, all Man United boys, and that was lost as well. And they were getting rid of those players willy-nilly, I couldn’t believe the club even allowed it.”
