The first respondents and Lagos State officials are now trying to rescue victims of an accident involving a Lagos State Government employee bus with registration number 04A-48LA and a moving train at PWD, Ikeja, Lagos.

On Thursday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Ikeja, when a train collided with a BRT bus.

The incident left many passengers injured, others feared dead and sparked widespread panic in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was attempting to cross the railway track to reach Alausa when the train hit it, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Videos of the aftermath have circulated on social media, showing passengers inside the bus trying to escape through the windows, with many sustaining injuries in the process. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) evacuating the injured passengers to nearby hospitals.

The Director, the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the accident in a statement.

“The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus is fully loaded with govt staff going to the office this morning,” the statement added.
