Renowned Professor Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke Honoured with 3 Prestigious Awards in One Month
Renowned Professor of safety and environment, Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke, has been honoured with three prestigious awards within a span of just one month.
These recognitions highlight his exceptional contributions to various fields, showcasing his expertise and dedication.
On May 18th, during the commemoration of the United Nations Global Road Safety Week in Lagos, Professor Okeke was presented with the Award of Recognition as an Eminent Road Safety Supporting Ambassador in Nigeria.
The award was bestowed upon him by Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
This recognition stems from his extensive knowledge and efforts in ensuring the safety of road users and the improvement of road conditions.
Subsequently, Professor Okeke received the Ambassador of Peace Award at the World Peace Conference held in Accra, Ghana on June 10th.
The event took place at the esteemed Kempinski Hotel, gathering influential figures who strive for global peace.
The award signifies Professor Okeke’s commitment to promoting harmony and understanding in society.
Continuing his string of accomplishments, the professor was honored with the Special Safety Ambassador award on May 25th.
This prestigious recognition commends his outstanding contributions to Safety Management in Nigeria.
The award ceremony took place at D’ Dome, Top Rank Hotel (Galaxy), located in Utako, Abuja.
The esteemed event was chaired by Engr. (Dr.) Rabi’u I. Suleiman, a former GED of NNPC and a current board member of Nigeria LNG.
The theme of the ISPON day and award ceremony was “ISPON ACT 2014 – The Past, Present, and Future of Safety Management Practice, Collaboration, and Sustainability in Nigeria.”
The Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria Act 2014, passed into law and published in the Federal Republic of Nigeria official Gazette No. 62, Vol 101, signifies a significant milestone in the regulation of safety management practices in Nigeria.
To commemorate this achievement and acknowledge the individuals who contributed to the realization of this Act, the President and governing board of the Institute approved the celebration of ISPON DAY on the 19th of May.
