Rejection Clasico? Frenkie De Jong Continues To Say No

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has once again dismissed rumors linking him with a summer move to Manchester United, stating that he is content at Camp Nou. The 25-year-old was a top target for United last year, but he refused to join the club, despite both clubs agreeing to an €85 million fee.

De Jong’s decision not to join United last summer led to the club agreeing to a £70m deal with Real Madrid for Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. However, the Red Devils have renewed their interest in the Dutch international ahead of the summer transfer window.

After Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday evening, Frenkie de Jong was asked about the possibility of a move to Manchester United this summer. He responded by saying, “No, I don’t think I’m going to make that step. You never know, of course, but at the moment, I am very happy at Barcelona.”

Frenkie de Jong has been a key player for Barcelona this season, making 31 appearances in all competitions and contributing three goals and four assists. He has formed a solid partnership in midfield with Sergio Busquets and Pedri, and his performances have been praised by fans and pundits alike.

However, De Jong’s comments will come as a blow to Manchester United, who are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield this summer. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of players, including West Ham’s Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Despite United’s interest, it appears that De Jong is committed to Barcelona and is not looking to leave the club anytime soon. With the La Liga title race heating up, the Dutchman will be focused on helping Barcelona secure their first league title since the 2018-19 season.
