Reece James: A Great Player ruined by ill-fate

Just when the Chelsea fan base was starting to rejoice about Reece James returning to the starting lineup, ill-fate struck the player again and forced him back on the sidelines during the fixture against Bournemouth.

This has somewhat become Reece James’ story so far considering how often injuries have come to plague a highly rated right-back in promising moments of his career.

The England international picked up a lay-off prior to the world cup games in Qatar in which the England national team very much could have used his skillsets in reaching a better position than the quarter finals they found themselves exiting from at the hands of France.

On his return to the Chelsea lineup, Reece James showed exactly why he was missed by the Blues with his excellent display against a new Bournemouth team that surprisingly came out of a 9-0 trashing at the hands of Liverpool earlier in the season.

But as it has become a recurring plotline in the defender’s story, his perfect return was cut short when he yet again picked an injury shortly into the restart of the second half.

At the moment, there is no information given regarding the length of the injury or if the lay-off will in fact be as serious as imagined, but with the star going off injured, it dents the Blues’ plans going into the restart of club football as things stand.

Chelsea fans and Graham Potter will be hoping the issue isn’t as serious as imagined considering the West London side cannot afford to miss such talent for longer periods again.

Another Chelsea talent who has suffered ill-fate this term is midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The midfielder’s absence from this match due to injury could mark a turning point in his season at Chelsea. Twelve of Loftus-fourteen Cheek’s Premier League games have been starts, but the England international may fall further down the pecking order in light of Denis Zakaria’s performance at Stamford Bridge.

Coach, Graham Potter will have something to consider in the future because Zakaria appeared so much more at ease and added more balance to the Chelsea midfield than they had with Loftus-Cheek in the starting XI.
