Real reason David de Gea returned

You can take David de Gea out of Manchester United but you can’t take the Manchester United out of David de Gea.

Despite leaving Old Trafford on poor terms this summer, the ex-Manchester United goalkeeper has made a return to the club’s old ground, and was even spotted supporting the Women’s team on his return to Manchester.

The Spaniard still remains a free agent as he is yet to find a club after leaving Manchester United.

David de Gea returning to the club has already ignited some rumors about his future in the football world, with many on the internet wondering if the Spaniard could make a surprise return behind the sticks for Manchester United.

The Spanish shot-stopper’s replace, Andre Onana has not made quite the impact the United fans expected, with game in, game out, the Red Devils fanbase making comparisons with De Gea.

De Gea’s silence on his next career move has also contributed to the speculation that he might even consider retirement rather than continuing his professional journey.

Speculation about his future escalated on Tuesday when De Gea posted an image on his Instagram account, showing himself in Manchester.

This post generated a flurry of comments from fans urging Manchester United to re-sign the Spanish goalkeeper, with some speculating that a return to Old Trafford might already be in the works.

However, the Daily Mail has now clarified the reason behind De Gea’s return to England. According to their report,

“The Spanish goalkeeper returned to the UK on Monday and is spending a few days sorting out the house in Hale where he lived until leaving United after 12 years at the end of June.”

The report continues to suggest that De Gea has not yet made a final decision about his next career move.

“It’s understood that De Gea – who turns 33 next month – is relaxed over his future as he enjoys some well-earned family time and is not rushing to find a new club,” the report added.
