Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez plays Coy about the Mbappe saga
We all know it, he may not admit it, but when it comes to Florentino Perez, whatever dreams Kylian Mbappe may have of playing in a white kit that has the Real Madrid emblem, it’s very much over.
Simply put, no one dares tell the old man ‘No’ to his face while playing with his emotions.
The President of Real Madrid for the first time since the Mbappe transfer saga, granted an interview with a Spanish television, and expertly spoke on the whole situation that befell Real Madrid.
Speaking like quite the gentleman, he denied feeling betrayed by Mbappe’s decision to extend his contract with PSG.
Instead, he feels he understands the pressure that came with it for the French youngster.
“Kylian Mbappé did not betray me. Mbappé told us his dream was to play for Real Madrid, many and many times.” The man alleged.
“But then all changed in 15 days because of political & economical pressure.
“Mbappé deal didn’t create any problem with Haaland deal, absolutely.” Perez denied, contradicting the popular reports that Mbappe had stolen two things out of Real Madrid without even stepping into Madrid.
“We have Benzema, so it was impossible to have him with Karim. We can’t sign Haaland to stay on the bench. Haaland is an amazing, fantastic player. Mbappé deal didn’t create any problem with Haaland deal, absolutely.
“It was not easy for Mbappé to receive calls from the president of France… to tell you not to leave the club. Then go to Qatar and they offer things that drive you crazy, probably things out of proportion. This is why Kylian has changed.” The Los Blancos president explained.
It may be him being politically correct with his speeches on national television, but there is no denying that the Madrid president, Florentino Perez played coy with his statements as regards how the club and Real Madrid actually felt after the snub.
Perez adding to that, didn’t fail to rule out Mbappe ever wearing the Real Madrid shirt as he admits a lot could happen in 3 years, although he did admit it won’t be up to him alone.
“Real Madrid will be always open to buy players who understand that no one is bigger than the club.” He said.
Reading between the lines, it very much should be obvious to anyone by now that the relationship is very much over.
