Rasmus Hojlund to be out for weeks with new injury update
Manchester United have a new striker on their hands in Rasmus Hojlund but will have to wait a while before he leads the line upfront for the Red Devils.
The Denmark international is set to miss the first few weeks of the season after picking up an injury following his announcement into the ranks of Old Trafford.
The former Atalanta FC striker was earlier unveiled by the club today in a deal reported to be around £72 million on a 5-year deal with the option of an addition year.
Rasmus Hojlund was unveiled ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season friendly versus RC Lens, a fixture that had its own narratives following Andre Onana’s blunder in goal.
Speaking on his signing, Rasmus Hojlund said;
“I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me.
“It is still early in my career, but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.”
According to the Manchester fan page, Manchester Evening News, the Dane could miss out a few weeks for United after picking an injury during pre-season training with former club, Atalanta.
“Rasmus Hojlund sustained a small issue during pre-season training with Atalanta and he is not ready to play.” the report says.
It goes on to add that: “United believe it could take a few weeks for Hojlund to reach match fitness and he will not be rushed in his recovery.”
Manchester United resume their season against Wolves on August 14 before taking on Tottenham Hotspur a few days later, with Marcus Rashford set to be the man in the frontline pending Hojlund’s return.
