Rapper Cheque bashes organizers of ‘Headies Award Show’ for not being nominated
Nigerian songwriter and Rapper, Akanbi Bamidele Brett popularly known as Cheque has lashed out after he didn’t get nominated in any category.
The rap artist took to his Twitter to bemoan the fact that he was left out by the organizers of The Headies yet again.
According to Cheque, the show has failed to recognize his music for another year running as they didn’t consider him in the Rap category.
He went on to add that the behavior from Headies is one of the reasons HipHop has remained stagnant in Nigeria.
The Rapper wrote;
Another year and the HEAdIES fails to recognize my music in the Rap category, while melodic rappers like Durk and Roddy are idolized in the rap scene worldwide That’s why HiPhop has remained Stagnant HERE but It’s Calm I will still be dropping HiTs even if I don’t get my Flowers
The 15th edition of the Headies will take place on September 4, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The nominees were announced yesterday, and they sparked a lot of debate, as some music fans were disappointed that their favorites were left out.
