In a candid interview, Former Manchester United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick has opened on his position towards the departure of England winger Jadon Sancho, from the club on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the current season.

Sancho’s return to Dortmund comes after a challenging stint at Old Trafford, marked by a reported falling out with United manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho, who joined Manchester United in a high-profile £73 million deal from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021, has not featured for the club since August 26, following a reported dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.

The 23-year-old has been training away from the first team since September, leading to his loan move back to Dortmund.

The rift between Sancho and Ten Hag reportedly escalated when the winger was omitted from the squad for a match against Arsenal, with the United manager attributing the decision to the standard of Sancho’s performance in training.

Jadon Sancho, in response, rejected the claims on social media, asserting that he was unfairly made a “scapegoat” and later refused to issue an apology.

Former United interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who had Sancho under his guidance for half a season, weighed in on the situation. Rangnick refuted any questions about Sancho’s attitude during his tenure at Old Trafford, stating,

“In the six months I had him, there wasn’t a single discipline problem. On the contrary. He is a calm and pleasant guy.”

Rangnick acknowledged that Sancho’s time in Manchester was not as carefree as his successful stint at Dortmund, attributing the change to the overall situation.

The former interim boss expressed confidence in Sancho’s ability to regain form and rhythm at Dortmund, emphasizing that the move makes perfect sense from the player’s perspective.
