Provide job for youths, Nigerians in US inform Buhari
Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Americas (NIDOA), United States Chapter, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to provide employment for youths.
In a letter mutually signed by its President, Eromonsele Idahosa, and other officials of the organisation, NIDOA showed concerns on the need for improved education and employment rate of children and teeming youths.
“Government must move swiftly to reduce and ultimately eliminate the number of out-of-school children by guaranteeing access to education which should be compulsory up to basic education level,” the statement read in part.
NIDOA also called on the Federal Government to carry out policies that are able to influence job creation and entrepreneurship growth, as the high unemployment rate is a problematic situation that will eventually become dangerous if not addressed.
The association proposed that youth should be mentored and engaged productively in country building, as it appeals to the government to “provide skills acquisition training and gainful employment for them after completing their training.
“We are mobilising our members to invest in scholarships, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and career development opportunities for Nigerian youth. The Federal Government is welcome to collaborate with us in this respect.”
NIDOA guaranteed President Buhari of constant support and productive role in national growth, stating that it is mobilising the support of Nigerian-American owned/managed businesses and not-for-profit organisations.
