Protest: FCT Police Command prepare to prevent hoodlums’ disturbance amid potential NLC protest

The FCT Police Command has revealed its strategy to thwart any attempts by troublemakers to disrupt the peace in the Federal Capital Territory during National Labour Congress activities, if the protest takes place.

TopNaija reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are organizing a nationwide protest on February 27th and 28th to highlight the worsening economic situation in the country.

According to labor unions, the protest has become necessary because of the increasing cost of living crisis in the country, particularly affecting civil servants.

Also, reports indicate that organized labor has begun rallying its members across the country in preparation for the upcoming protest on Monday.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the command had not received official information about a planned protest in the territory. She expressed concerns about the security situation in the nation’s capital and confirmed that police operatives would be present during the protest to ensure order is maintained.

The PPRO said, “I wish to note that the FCT Police Command isn’t aware of any intending protest.

“However, measures will be emplaced to ensure that hoodlums do not take advantage of any activities of the NLC to disrupt the peace in the FCT if the protest does occur”.
