Promising Lady Dies Due To Lack Of Bedspace In LUTH
Deborah Doofan, a twenty-year-old student of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has died due to the poor medical facilities at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Deborah was rushed to the hospital, but she could not get a bed space, and was left in the backseat of a car, in front of the emergency centre, where she later died.
Her elder brother, Prince, said all his efforts to save his sister had been a waste of time and resources.
He also revealed that Deborah was receiving treatment in the hospital when she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and was to undergo treatment when medical workers discovered that she had a swollen heart, which required her to see specialists.
She was referred to LUTH, but they could not attend to her due to the lack of bed space.
Deborah’s course representative at UNIPORT, Favour Nkwocha, described her as a vibrant and loving student.
