Professor Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke Bags New Professorial Award in Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability
In a significant milestone for academia and environmental advocacy, Professor Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke has been officially conferred with the prestigious Academic Professorial Chair in Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability.
The event, held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Guest House, was a testament to his dedication and pioneering work in the field.
This distinguished honour was awarded by Highstone Global University, Texas, USA, in conjunction with the International Association of Universities and Colleges, representing a global recognition of Professor Okeke’s contributions.
Professor Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke was awarded this prestigious title following an evaluation by Highstone Global University, Texas, USA, in conjunction with the International Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (QAHE), representing a coalition of experts from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Asia.
He has now been recognized as a Professor of Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability.
This accolade not only marks him as the first-ever Professor of Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability in Africa but also underscores his vital role in addressing the pressing challenges of our time.
Prior to this recent honour, he was also recognized by Triune Biblical University in 2021 with the Professorial Chair as a Professor of Safety & Environment, highlighting his expertise across multiple domains of environmental science.
The award ceremony attracted distinguished audience, including other esteemed awardees, further emphasizing the importance of climate change and environmental sustainability on a global scale.
Professor Okeke’s academic journey is equally remarkable. He holds double HNDs in Safety & Environment & Strategic Human Resources , Bsc in Environmental Science, and double Postgraduate Diplomas from Oxford Business Executives, UK, and Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He earned an MSc in Industrial Safety Engineering from TBU Global Extension in New York, an MSc in Energy & Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, as well as PhDs in Safety & Environment and Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability from TBU Global Extension, New York, USA. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Okeke has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals across the globe. He is also a prolific author, with notable works including Momentary Visitors on Planet Earth and Nigerian/Biafran War: What I Saw with a Child’s Eye.
Professor Gerald Ndubuisi Okeke was proudly accompanied to the podium by his wife, Ambassador Engr. (Dr) Ngozi Gift Okeke (Iyom Lolo Odueze Ugodiya 1 of Obowo, Imo State), to receive the prestigious award.
Professor Okeke’s recognition is not just a personal triumph but a beacon for Africa’s growing influence in the global discourse on climate change and its negative impacts across the globe.
