Private candidates of WASSCE can now sit for twice a year

 

 

On Wednesday, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) revealed that it would conduct examination for private candidates twice a year, starting from 2017.

Iyi Uwadiae, registrar of the council, made this known to journalists during WAEC’s ‘Registrar’s Staff Appraisal Committee’ meeting on in Accra, Ghana.

Uwadiae noted that WAEC made the new addition to its calendar to ensure that many private candidates have the opportunity of writing the examination and acquire the certificate.

The WAEC registrar said the examination will take place in January/February and August/September.

“The West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates known as the November/December diet for private candidates will now be conducted in January/February and August/September.”

“We have concluded arrangements to commence writing of our WASSCE for private candidates twice a year from 2017. This will take place in January /February and August/September every year in all the member countries.

“This development, however, does not affect that of the school candidates, popularly called May/June. That one remains once a year for all school candidates,” Uwadiae said.
