President Bola Tinubu orders quick release of kidnaped children in Kaduna, Borno

President Bola Tinubu has also ordered the quick release of the kidnapped children in Kaduna and Borno.

He reiterated that the federal government would not pay a ransom to the country’s kidnappers and terrorists.

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, said this after the third Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

“So, the security agencies are working round the clock. These children and people who have been abducted by criminal elements will be brought back to safety pretty soon.

“And Mr President has also directed that no ransom will be paid by the government to any of these criminal elements. I think it’s important that this be put out there.”

Idris stated that the government was considering offers from foreign entities to assist in the rescue of the kidnapped children.

“Well, we’re aware that is not just the US that has actually offered. Other countries have also offered to support Nigeria.

“But what we can tell you is that government is still reviewing these offers and the position of government will be made known.”

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, stated that the distribution of grains as a palliative has begun nationally in state capitals.

He stated that the distribution details will not be publicised due to the current trend of food vandalism throughout the country.

Kyari also highlighted the government’s many successes in guaranteeing food security and encouraging local companies.

The Minister stated that the largest tomato manufacturing company was opened last Friday, while the Central Bank of Nigeria delivered approximately 2.15 million metric tonnes of fertiliser to the ministry on Wednesday.

He noted that the ministry was working with sister agencies to use irrigation facilities throughout the country for agricultural purposes.
