Premier League will be shit without Liverpool—Ian Wright

Former Arsenal player and legend, Ian Wright has lashed out at how uncompetitive the English Premier League has become in recent times, seeing as how Manchester City keeps going all out to challenge for the title with little to no challenge aside Liverpool.

In a honest assessment of how the English top flight have become so downgrading, Ian Wright alleges the Premier League would be shit if Liverpool weren’t in it.

The 58 year recently appeared on stage with Emma Byrne, Karen Carney and Michael Owen during a roadshow when he made the viral comments.

Amongst many things, they also talked about the growth of women’s football with Wright bring to the forefront the importance of Jurgen Klopp and his team to the league.

Ian Wright has a point though considering Manchester City and Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League title 4 times in 5 seasons, with Liverpool challenging them in 3 of those to the death.

The other Premier League sides according to Wright did not prove as much a challenge for the title in the recent seasons with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal being less of genuine contenders.

“I thought Fulham were amazing on the first [weekend],” he said. “They put the pressure on Liverpool and the reason why they done that is because you know that Liverpool, who have chased down a Man City side that are imperious…

“Right, if it wasn’t for Liverpool this fing league should be s,” he added.

“Simply because, City beat them on two occasions by one point, and then they hammered them out of sight. If it weren’t for Liverpool it would be a procession.”
