Premier League Title Race: Is today the Day?

Published

on

It is Saturday, the 30th of April, a weekend; a slow one with the perfect weather to set in the mood for this week’s Premier League fixtures. On the other hand, it is that day where the suspense on how the League ends, heightens.

Liverpool are still a point behind Manchester City; the current League leaders. Manchester City are just coming from a tough Champions League fixture against European giants Real Madrid with nothing decided yet. Both teams play today; one with an early kick off against a reformed and in form Newcastle, the other with a later kick off against a current flying Leeds United.

The season is reminiscent of the 2018/19 season. Both teams are fighting for the domestic glory of an English title. Nothing is set, nothing is determined, but a strange weather forms and rages ever so high, telling us this is that moment where both sets of fans and neutrals alike, are waiting for.

The wait—for who will slip or slip further backwards in the title race. The Liverpool fans are terrified, nervy and feverish. And rightly they should, cause aside them, no other Premier League team has scored more wins at home but Newcastle, and they face said Newcastle away; a game, though not like the Merseyside derby or North West derby, still holds some grudge and can’t be seen as an easy fixture.

It is the banana peel, and one if not careful could bring the team crashing down and gifting the opponent the advantage.

Then there is City against Leeds. Leeds under new management, are in racing form, and a race to move further away from the dark spots in the League against rivals like Aston Villa, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Everton. And let’s not forget the fact they have a sort of grudge against the 7-0 trashing in the reverse fixture earlier this season at the hands of their current opponents.

Both teams have everything to fight for against the title chasers. They have a point or 3 to prove. Newcastle are in a charge to be a top power now with new multi Billionaire owners, Leeds want to guaranty themselves safe spot in the League. It is all no smiles today, and as the build up goes, the question forever on every fans mouth across the globe is, Is today the Day one of the title chasers slip up and loose hold or edge over the League?

The weather starts out cold today and so does the suspense and the sensation over this question. Time surely will tell and it will at past 7PM today.
