Premier League rivals are just jealous of Liverpool—Gabby Agbonlahor
Liverpool fans and the club came under mockery recently for their end of the season parade, with their critics wondering what the club was celebrating or parading the City with.
To most of their critics, the season by Liverpool standards, based on how they had started it, was quite the underwhelming one, as it ended with them seeing off a campaign that had them in 4 finals; including the Premier League title charge, with just domestic cups.
Former Aston Villa man, Gabby Agbonlahor sees it different though, as he fires back at Liverpool’s critics, and labeled their taunts as nothing more than ‘jealousy and envy’.
Speaking with Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted there were no issues with Liverpool celebrating even after Champions League final heart break the day before.
“I don’t see any problem with it,” Agbonlahor said to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They were on for a quadruple and won a double. Yes, people will try and play it down and say it’s just the domestic cups but they’ve still won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. There’s no harm in at all.
“The Liverpool fans are celebrating those two trophies and how close they got in the league and how well they did in the Champions League. Just because they lost in those two, they did very well in those two competitions.
“Their fans aren’t going to hold that against them, they still want to celebrate that and I’ve got no problem with that at all.
“The clubs and their fans are showing a bit of jealousy and envy towards Liverpool.” He ended.
Speaking to the club media on the day of the parade, assistant manager Pep Ljinders described the scenes as “insane” and the “best remedy” to losing to Real Madrid at the Stade de France.
