Premier League Predictions For The Weekend
A quick fire run of premier league games it is for the first week of December, and following match week 15, week 16 games ensues just 2 days later, thus bringing TopNaija to drop its predictions for the weekend games.
The premier league table still remains tight, both on top and at the bottom, with no side certain of the drop yet neither any side sure of having the advantage of being top before Christmas. This weekend however presents an opportunity for any team to improve on their advantage or at least take advantage of the opposition’s failure.
Week 16 begins on Saturday the 9th December and starts with yet another lunch time kickoff for the Merseyside Reds as Crystal Palace 12:30 Liverpool take on each other at the Selhurst Park.
Palace over recent weeks have maintained a rather poor form despite starting the league well under Roy Hodgson. They’ve either suffered defeats or drawn games in their last 4 fixtures, which places Liverpool as the favorites to nick out a win away against the Eagles.
However, the tie is not as simple as ticking a paper as Palace have proven a formidable side against the Reds. In our premier league predictions, we see this game ending either in a narrow win for Liverpool presumably a 1-2 win or a 2-2 draw. We lean more on a 2-2 draw.
Brighton and Hove Albion 15:00 Burnley is quite the fun fair, owing to the attacking brilliance of both teams. Burnley’s attacking flare recently paid off against Sheffield United last weekend in a 5-0 raid at Turf Moor, but their mid-week clash versus Wolves resulted in a 1-0 defeat for Vincent Kompany’s side.
In our premier league predictions, we see the Clarets suffering yet another defeat on the road to Brighton in a 3-1 defeat.
Manchester United 15:00 Bournemouth brings the mid-week heroes who took on Chelsea in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford, once more into the narratives.
The Red Devils go into this tie as obvious favorites, but we will rethink that notion. We predict a 2-2 draw against the Cherries however for the home side.
Sheffield United 15:00 Brentford brings the Blades back into premier league hostilities, and with Chris Wilder back as manager at Bramall Lane, this tie comes in late for Brentford.
In our premier league predictions we will go for a home win, with Sheffield United nicking a 1-0 win against the Bees.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 15:00 Nottingham Forest seems quite a tough one to predict. On paper, Gary O’Neil’s side have proven themselves this season despite not getting the results, but Nottingham Forest have also shown resilience at pushing back their opponents.
We predict a 2-2 draw for both teams.
Aston Villa 17:30 Arsenal is by far the biggest game of the weekend judging on premier league form, and also what it could entail for the league table. A defeat or a draw for either side will be an advantage for their opponents in the top 4 ranking.
Arsenal have a chance to increase their advantage or go behind depending on the result from this game, and Villa stand a chance to improve their lead over ironic 4th place Manchester City if they manage to beat the Gunners. Also it is the perfect revenge for former Arsenal boss, Unai Emery as Aston Villa manager.
A tough game that is quite hard to predict, and in our premier league predictions, we believe it is in this game that Aston Villa’s crazy home form and run ends as we see an Arsenal win in 1-2 triumph at Villa Park.
Sunday 10th December brings fans its own fair share of games, with Everton 14:00 Chelsea returning to hostile terms.
After mid-week’s defeat to rivals, Manchester United, Chelsea will want to boost their points tally by nicking a win against Everton, but it is not quite simple.
Everton bar the Manchester United defeat at Goodison Park, have shown resilience in their recent games to climb out of the relegation zone.
Their 3-0 humbling of Newcastle United show their home is not to be trifled with, and Chelsea will have to go their being careful. We predict a 0-1 win for the London Blues however.
Fulham 14:00 West Ham United brings a London derby yet again for the premier league weekend. It is quite easy to pick Fulham as favorites owing to their recent wins and their resilience at Anfield against Liverpool.
However, we predict a 2-3 win for the Hammers at Cravens Cottage.
Luton Town 14:00 Manchester City is a luxury that City will want after the dominating defeat to Aston Villa in mid-week.
The Cityzens will be eager to recover, hence it will be easy to predict a 0-4 win at Kenilworth in our predictions for Manchester City as they climb their way back to winning a 4th consecutive premier league title.
Tottenham Hotspur 16:30 Newcastle United end week 16, and with the North London side continuously losing form and getting poor results from games, the Magpies stand as obvious favorites heading into this clash.
We predict a 3-1 win for Spurs however.
