Premier League predictions for Matchday 9 Weekend

TopNaija returns with its Premier League predictions for the weekend as matchday 9 resumes hostilities among clubs as the 2024/25 season thickens.

The games kickoff tonight at 8 PM with Leicester City taking on Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium. After last weekend’s epic comeback versus Southampton, the Foxes will be looking to test fate this weekend against Nottingham Forest. We predict a stale 2-2 draw between both teams tonight.

The Premier League games resume proper on Saturday 26th October with concurrent 3 PM kickoffs starting with Aston Villa hosting AFC Bournemouth at Villa Park. Contrast to what anyone might say about Villa so far, the Cherries are a real challenge for Unai Emery’s team this weekend.

In our Premier League predictions, we do not see Aston Villa coming out unscathed from this clash. We think Bournemouth might have an edge of 1-2 win to stun Villa like the Cherries did to Arsenal last weekend.

Premier League predictions for Matchday 8 Weekend

Brentford will also face a challenge from Ipswich Town following Brentford’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend. The Bees will be eager to bounce back from the loss but the Tractor Boys will have other aspirations. We believe Brentford has what it takes to carve out a 2-1 win on their home turf.

Brighton and Hove Albion versus Wolverhampton Wanderers is a game Gary O’Neil at this stage of Wolves’ season will want to avoid even if it’s impossible. Wolves currently sit bottom in the Premier League despite impressing on the pitch in terms of their style of play. Brighton on the other hand, are a boogey no one wants to face when struggling to come out with a result.

In our Premier League predictions, we see a 3-1 win for Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Manchester City versus Southampton is hardly a fixture anyone would bet against Pep Guardiola’s City team. It is no longer ‘if Manchester City can win’ but ‘how many goals will the City team score when on the offensive?’. We predict a 4-0 win for City at full-time.

Everton versus Fulham is surely where the game is on Saturday. It will be interesting to see how the Toffees will fare against their West London visitors. We predict a 2-3 win for Fulham.

Sunday 27th October is where the games are this weekend as 5 London clubs take to the turf in what might be a Super Sunday.

Starting with the 2 PM kickoffs, we have Chelsea taking on Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge following the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. This weekend is one to bounce back and Newcastle stands a prime target for Chelsea’s ambitions to get back into the top 4 spots.

In our Premier League predictions, we see Chelsea forcing out a 3-2 win at full-time.

Crystal Palace versus Tottenham Hotspur is one of those games that could be tricky for Spurs and Ange Postecoglou. We predict a 1-1 draw for both sides.

West Ham United versus Manchester United surely has punters confused about how best to stake their bets for this game. Predicting the outcome is a tough one considering the current form of both teams. We would be tempted to give Manchester United the benefit of the doubt with a 1-2 win away from home. However, the most realistic outcome could be a 2-2 draw.

Arsenal versus Liverpool is where the actual game of the weekend is, and perhaps the game that could force out many discussions at full-time whistle no matter the outcome.

In our predictions for this Premier League clash of the titans, we foresee a tactical game plan to comes at nothing but a 1-1 draw between both sides. However, it isn’t out of the realms of possibility to see Mikel Arteta’s team coming out with a 2-1 win if Liverpool and Arne Slot continue to struggle in scoring goals.
