Premier League predictions for the Weekend

The Premier League weekend continues as we head into the matchday 6 fixtures 2 weeks before the international break sets upon us, and TopNaija has some cracker of predictions for the exciting weekend.

The games kickoff on Saturday 28th September, bringing us what is now termed the ‘oil-clasico’ as Newcastle United takes on league champions, Manchester City. Games between the pair have carried some interesting narratives, especially recently with Newcastle getting themselves some backbone since the new ownership. In our premier league predictions, we are tempted to believe this will be City’s first defeat this season, with the Magpies capable of giving it out to Pep Guardiola at lunch time kickoff. We predict a 3-2 cracker in favor of Newcastle.

Liverpool’s ‘greatest’ enemy returns

However, punters should not be discouraged in going the safer route of a Manchester City win. But, considerations should be taken regarding the history between both sides to note this won’t be an easy win for the Cityzens.

Arsenal versus Leicester City at 3 pm kickoff is an interesting tie that could result in a surprise if the Gunners are not careful. However, since the tie takes place at the Emirates, we do not see the underdogs pulling anything off other than a 2-0 defeat.

Brentford versus West Ham United, will give the Hammers a chance to bounce back from their 5-1 defeat in mid-week in the Carabao Cup. And what better fixture than a mini-London derby? We see West Ham stealing a 1-3 win on the road against Thomas Frank’s Brentford team.

Chelsea versus Brighton and Hove Albion is one cracker that is sure to excite fans this weekend. The Blues taking on the Seagulls at Stamford Bridge has in recent seasons grown to have some sort of history between the two clubs. Off field, Brighton and Chelsea have shared some links between players and coaches. But will this give either side an advantage? Certainly not.

In our premier league predictions, we think Brighton will run out 1-2 winners at the Bridge to hand Chelsea their second defeat of the season. However, a 2-2 draw is still up for debate.

Everton have started this season on a very terrible form, defense-wise and attack-wise, and against Crystal Palace, we do not see it getting any better. We predict a 0-2 win for the Eagles at Goodison Park.

Nottingham Forest versus Fulham has some promise to it. This is the kind of game where both teams have equal chances of winning. However, we see a 1-1 draw here.

Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Liverpool sees Wolves coming into the game desperate of points. They have so far started the season with good performances that yielded nothing on the results sheet. The visitors will be an opportunity to change that, but currently, the Reds are on good form, with only Forest their defeat so far. Hence, we have Liverpool edging past Wolves again in our premier league predictions in what could be a 0-2 win.

Knowing the Reds tendency to disappoint many, punters may want to shy away from this game at Molineux.

The premier league fixtures continue on Sunday 29th September with Ipswich Town taking on Aston Villa. We do not see Villa losing this game, however, a clean sheet is not to be expected. We predict a 1-3 win for Unai Emery’s team.

Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur could be the highlight of the weekend, and possibly the one with a lot of narratives as Ange Postecoglou’s team take a tour of Manchester. We see Manchester United seeing out a 2-1 win against Spurs in our premier league predictions. But, a surprise from Spurs should not be ruled out as both teams are equally matched.

The premier league fixtures will come to a head on Monday night and the end of the month, as Bournemouth takes on Southampton. We give this to AFC Bournemouth getting a 3-0 win on the night.
