Premier League Predictions for Matchday 5 Weekend

Week 5 sets upon the premier league as teams return to battle each other for a chance to move up the table, and TopNaija is here with its predictions for the respective fixtures.

Ahead of the Saturday clash, fans and neutrals will see East and West London take on each other for the second consecutive weekend as Chelsea takes a tour to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United at Lunch time kickoff. Lunch time kickoffs are often tricky, and West Ham is even trickier for the West London Blues. Fixtures between the two has never been an easy one, with the Hammers seeing recent glory against Chelsea in modern times.

We predict a 2-1 defeat for Chelsea to kick the weekend with hopefully the first shocker. However, we do not rule out a Chelsea 2-3 win if the coin lands in their favor.

The 3 pm kickoffs will then take place soon after with 6-games running on the bounce at that hour.

We have Aston Villa taking on Wolverhampton Wanderers for what promises to be a cracker. In our premier league predictions, we see Wolves following through with the second shocker for a 1-2 win to stun Unai Emery’s side.

Fulham will also have a chance at glory but we don’t see Newcastle United giving them a leeway to victory. We see a 0-3 win for the Magpies in West London.

Premier League Predictions for Matchday 5 Weekend

Leicester City will have a chance to get their first maximum points in this game, particularly against an Everton side poor on form. However, we see the Toffees forcing out a 2-2 draw or a 0-1 win at the King Power Stadium.

Liverpool versus AFC Bournemouth is going to be a tricky game judging from the shocker last weekend that was the 0-1 loss to Nottingham Forest for the Reds. The Cherries from what we have seen so far, are not a side to write off yet and despite Liverpool’s 1-3 win against AC Milan in mid-week, nothing is written in stone this weekend for Arne Slot’s team.

In our premier league predictions for the games, we have Liverpool playing a 1-1 draw at Anfield. However, we cannot rule out a 2-0 win for the Reds. Hence, punters will need to take this game with a pinch of salt in their mouth while staking it on their bet slips.

Southampton versus Ipswich Town, now this is going to be an interesting fixture as mate meets mate. We predict an Ipswich victory, possibly a 0-3 win for the Tractor Boys, a replica of the 0-3 defeat the Saints suffered last weekend to Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur versus Brentford will wrap up the 3 pm kickoff ties, and our premier league predictions has this mini-London derby going very bad for the Bees as Spurs will want to bounce back from the North London derby defeat last weekend. We see a 4-2 win coming off for Spurs. On the safer side, this game might end in a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United will wrap Saturday up with another trip on the road but this time to Selhurst Park to face boogey side, Crystal Palace at 5:30 pm.

In our premier league predictions, this game could be tricky for Erik ten Hag’s team. We see a 0-0 draw or a Crystal Palace win coming off at full-time for possibly the second shocker of the weekend.

Sunday 22nd September completes week 5 with 2 games on our screens.

Brighton and Hove Albion versus Nottingham Forest will loggerheads before the main even takes place at 4:30 pm. We predict a 3-1 win for Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Manchester City versus Arsenal is perhaps the main event of the weekend, and the game that will carry all the narratives. Whoever wins this tie will go on to be touted as the premier league winners come end of the season, even if not entirely true. This game will set the tone for how Manchester City or Arsenal will end their season. In our premier league predictions, we foresee a City win in a 4-2 scoreline.
