Premier League predictions for Matchday 17 Weekend

The Premier League returns this weekend to resume hostilities for the matchday 17-games. Running parallel with the games, is the title chase, and the quest for glory that only few get to achieve. But who will be the few to smile home this weekend?

Kicking off the games is Aston Villa welcoming current Premier League champions Manchester City to Villa Park on Saturday at 1:30 PM (WAT). After last weekend’s derby defeat, City will want to do everything it takes to come out with a positive against Unai Emery’s side. However, positivity for Manchester City going to Villa park on their current form, is like heading into a Lion’s den with nothing but optimism.

Our predictions for this game is another 2-1 defeat for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City yet again.

Premier League predictions for Matchday 16 Weekend

Following that, is a run of concurrent games with Brentford taking on Nottingham Forest on their home turf at 4 PM kick-off. We predict a 2-1 triumph for the Bees to redeem their 2-1 defeat last weekend to Chelsea.

Ipswich Town and Newcastle United will have their own battle to grind at the same hour. We predict a 2-2 draw between both sides.

West Ham United versus Brighton and Hove Albion is perhaps one Premier League game that may be a shocker this weekend as per current form of the two teams. We predict a 1-0 win for the Hammers.

Crystal Palace after keeping City to a standoff last weekend, will face another test against Arsenal. By this time, the Eagles will have battled both City and Arsenal in back-to-back games. This for the Gunners can either result in an over familiarity that could harm them or make them better. For our prediction, we see the two London teams playing out a 2-2 draw.

Sunday 22nd December will round things up with Everton hosting Chelsea for the last time at Goodison Park at 3 PM kick-off. The Toffees will be welcoming the Blues with confidence especially after playing out a 0-0 draw versus Arsenal last weekend. Hence, this is a Premier League game we believe could be problematic for Chelsea.

We predict a 1-1 draw between both teams.

Fulham versus a Southampton side with a new manager can be a negative experience for the home team. We predict a 1-2 win for the visiting Saints.

Leicester City taking on a Wolverhampton Wanderers who recently sacked its manager can be another boogey, especially for the Foxes who not too long ago fired their own manager to hire Ruud van Nistelrooy. Tricky game to predict, but if we must, this could go the route of a 1-2 win for Wolves.

Manchester United versus Bournemouth is surely a redemption for the Red Devils after falling to Tottenham Hotspur in mid-week in the Carabao Cup. We predict a 3-1 win for Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur hosting Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is by far the biggest game of matchday 17 weekend, and we predict this is the game that will carry all the narratives heading into Monday.

Can Liverpool continue their chase for the league title or is this the game that sees them fall from the top spot they currently sit on?

We predict this Premier League game could go in favor of the Reds if they can fix their defensive issues. This could go the route of a 0-2 win for Liverpool or unfortunate 2-2 draw yet again. However, we are leaning into a Liverpool win.
