Tragedy struck in Magboro, a community in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a pregnant woman lost her life in a horrifying accident involving a truck.
The incident also left her two-year-old child injured.
Reports indicate that the fatal accident occurred when a truck with the registration number TTD-643ZY experienced a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control.
The truck swerved into Magboro market, leading to a chain of unfortunate events.
In the chaos, the truck collided with a car, and a motorcycle ended up pinned beneath it.
Tragically, a pregnant woman was caught in the path of the truck as she tried to protect her two-year-old child. She fell victim to the accident and lost her life on the spot.
Before the unfortunate incident unfolded, the deceased woman had visited the market to purchase food items.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, recounted the horrifying scene, highlighting how the victim bravely tried to save her child but, sadly, paid the ultimate price.
The eyewitness said, “She was the first person to see the truck coming. As the truck was coming uncontrollably, the pregnant woman was trying to run away with her little child, but the gown she wore hindered her from running faster. So, she fell, and the truck climbed on her.”
Another witness said the motorcyclist whose motorcycle got stuck under the truck escaped death as he jumped off his motorcycle.
