Predictions For The Premier League Weekend

The Premier League returns this weekend for match week 13 after a week hiatus for the international break, the last before the new year comes swinging, but not the last predictions TopNaija will have for the weekend games.

With hostilities, rivalries, and the banter set to resume, we are back to give our thoughts and our predictions for the games, and whatever better game to start that with than the high octane, Manchester City vs. Liverpool clash at lunch time kick off at the Etihad.

The premier league sure has made a lot of controversial decisions in its history and this season to begin with, but there is nothing more mind bending than starting the first league game on return from the international break with Manchester City versus Liverpool at a rather odd kick off time that has Liverpool as clear underdogs and with little advantage as possible.

Though not classed as a derby as Liverpool vs. Manchester United, but since the arrival of Pep Guardiola to the Etihad and Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, Manchester City has taken the position of United of old to give Liverpool a tough time.

With a title challenge on the card for both teams, this fixture is a tie fans and neutrals will be sitting up for. We predict this game despite all fingers pointing towards one direction, to ultimately favor the Merseyside Reds this time around.

In our premier league predictions, we would go bold to state a 1-2 win for Jurgen Klopp for the first time at the Etihad in his career as Liverpool manager in the premier league.

Following the fixture, comes Burnley 15:00 West Ham United, Vincent Kompany despite his attacking play, is yet to capitalize on that to get the results they deserve. West Ham on their own end, aren’t having the best season too, despite being better on points tally.

We predict this fixture however to go the way of Burnley in a 3-1 surprise win.

Luton Town 15:00 Crystal Palace; Luton so far on home ground have been able to get results in their favor, despite some of it not being all that positive. Crystal Palace on the other hand have been playing one of the best football since Roy Hodgson returned as manager.

This game is hard to predict, but in tune with recent games, we would call this game in favor of Palace in a 1-3 win for the Eagles.

Newcastle United 15:00 Chelsea; if there is one thing the Blues have mastered this season, it is getting results out from big oppositions, particularly those with the attacking flair. Newcastle United are one of those teams whose pattern of play allows spaces for a Chelsea attack.

In our premier league predictions,we would want to call this game going in favor of Chelsea as everything stands in favor of the Blues at the moment. Their opposition currently suffers a list of injury lay offs with key players missing for the Magpies.

This looks like a 2-4 win, continuing the line of Chelsea scoring 4 goals against their opponents.

Nottingham Forest 15:00 Brighton and Hove Albion; it will be tempting to give Roberto Di Zerbi’s Brighton side the win, but if there is anything about Nottingham Forest, it is that they are quite a formidable side when they want to be, especially with Taiwo Awoniyi in there for them.

We predict a 2-2 draw for both teams.

Sheffield United 15:00 Bournemouth; the Cherries will be heading into this fixture on the back of a 2-0 confidence booster that was their match against Newcastle United prior to the international break. With Sheffield currently battling with the drop zone with the likes of Everton, Burnley and perhaps Luton Town, they would be hoping to carve out points as soon as possible.

We predict this game going the way of Sheffield United for a rather shock win against Bournemouth.

Brentford 17:30 Arsenal; another London derby faces Mikel Arteta on return from international break, and so far this season, the Gunners haven’t had a good run of results playing against London opposition.

Brentford however will have their 2-0 win against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge as a bed time story to tell going into the game versus Arsenal. With Arsenal looking to contend for the title, there stands no wasting of chances to get something if Manchester City vs Liverpool has the result going the way of Arsenal.

In our premier league predictions, we have this game going for a shock 2-1 win for the Bees.

Sunday 26th November brings us some entertaining fixtures despite the games not being worthy to be classed ‘Super Sunday’ specials.

Tottenham Hotspur 14:00 Aston Villa; brings two exciting managers into conflict as Ange Postecoglou takes on Unai Emery at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With Spurs dealing with key injuries, Villa will be hoping to steal the advantage to move further up the table. We predict the tie however ending in a 2-2 stalemate between both parties.

Everton 16:30 Manchester United; sees wounded and struggling Merseyside side, Everton take on Manchester United at Goodison Park.

Following a 10-point deduction for the Toffees, this is perhaps the worse time to pay Goodison a visit especially for a Manchester United side still struggling to climb into the top 4 spot. We predict a 2-1 defeat for the Red Devils.

Monday 27th November concludes match week 13 fixtures with Fulham 20:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers ending the weekend hostilities on a Monday night.

The fixture will not be like the Monday night classic between Chelsea and Manchester City 2 weeks ago, but it gives Marco Silva a chance at a positive result. Wolves however should not be written off though as they are quite formidable on their day.

For TopNaija’s premier league predictions, we will have to predict a win for Fulham in a 3-2 triumph at Cravens Cottage.
