Portugal Coach Reveals Ronaldo Suffering From Gastroenteritis

Cristiano Ronaldo has been revealed to be dealing with an ailment which the Portugal coach, Fernando Santos has made public ahead of the friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

This dispels any uncertainty about Erik ten Hag’s prior claim that the 37-year-old was ill. ten Hag is the boss of Manchester United.

Due to his illness, Ronaldo missed the Red Devils’ matches against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and Fulham in the Premier League.

The seasoned attacker, though, might have played his final match for the Red Devils after giving a fiery interview to renowned British journalist Piers Morgan in which he attacked the club’s owners, the leadership, his manager, and even his teammates.

The Portugal coach, Fernando Santos also spoke about the controversial interview the star gave to Piers Morgan stating in quote that:

“We need to respect what others think and say, provided it doesn’t impact what I do.

“None of my players have made a comment regarding the interview, at all.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a free man. The buzz and discussion [around him] is taking place outside the national team. It doesn’t impact us.”

Prior to their friendly matchup against Nigeria on Thursday, Santos addressed to the media and stated the following regarding the player’s health:

“It’s a fact he’s suffering from gastroenteritis. Any player will struggle if you’re suffering from that. He’s not ready to play.”

Hence, Nigerian fans of the star hoping to see Ronaldo play against their country before the world cup games will be a little disappointed as the Portuguese will be a notable absentee in the friendly.
