They Came For Me But I Owed Al Nassr My Word--Ronaldo

Fernando Santos, manager of Portugal, has responded to the allegation that he was compelled to start Cristiano Ronaldo in games.

There have been allegations that because of his influence on the coach of Portugal’s national team, Ronaldo is untouchable.

Santos is eager to win the World Cup in Qatar after leading the Portugal national side to victories in the Europe Nations League and the European Championship.

Every Santos success story has included Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also available for the 2022 World Cup, which is predicted to be his final game for Portugal.

In response to a question about whether he was compelled to start the former Real Madrid and Juventus great against Nigeria on Thursday, Santos told the press in quote stating:

“Forced? This is not about forcing me. This is not a requirement. No one is forced to do anything here. The question could be, you could ask me, based on what Cristiano Ronaldo did [in recent weeks on the pitch] should he start?

“This is valid for Cristiano Ronaldo and all the players who are with the national team. If the head coach is forced to put a player in the XI… there aren’t those things here.” the Portugal coach said.
