Politics of Hate: El Rufai closes Arewa House on Peter Obi
All is fair in love and war, but nothing is fair in politics and hate, and now it is being reported from an allegation by the Peter Obi Support Network that the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai has blocked the group from holding any Summit at the Arewa House in the State.
It is revealed that the gathering was meant to bring Peter Obi’s supporter’s under an umbrella but were denied such privileges.
The Peter Obi Support Network had arranged the Northern Summit to interact with the former Anambra State governor’s supporters within the 19 Northern States of the federation.
And according to the POSN, it is revealed the Kaduna State governor had through his spokesperson informed the Manager of the Arewa House to deny the group any access to the venue.
It states:
“We cannot have Peter/Datti Northern Summit in Arewa House”.
The group alleged there were no reasons giving for denying the POSN from using the venue for its Summit.
While speaking with the media on Monday, Sani Saeed Altukry, the POSN spokesman, notes that the summit was not a political campaign but a converge of volunteers and would-be volunteers and supporters of the Obi-Datti project.
It was meant to accommodate necessary interaction and cross-fertilization of ideas.
The event was originally intended for a 19th of July 2022 date at the famed Arewa House, Raba Road, Kaduna but that didn’t stop the State Government from cancelling its use even after money had been paid.
In reaction to the incident, the group wrote a statement:
“We condemn the decision of the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, to block the hosting of the Northern Summit for Peter Obi and Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) and his running mate at the Arewa House in the state.
“The decision of the Governor is disheartening at the critical point in time when Northern Nigerians are desperate for development and liberation from poverty due to maladministration.
“The Governor of Kaduna state is intimidated by the rising profile of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, across the length and breadth of the country.
“The Governor should know that this is a “Peoples Movement” which can never be stopped.
“The Movement represents all oppressed Nigerians and everyone that desires good governance, and Governor El-rufai is too small to suppress it.”
