Political Hypocrisy Divides Nigerian Celebrities ahead Of 2023

A number of celebrities from the worlds of music, film, and comedy are working hard to guarantee that their favorite presidential candidates win the presidency in the forthcoming 2023 Nigerian general elections. Some of the biggest stars, though, appear to be undecided.

According to all reports, the majority of famous people who have chosen to express interest in the upcoming presidential election have chosen a side between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party.

Several of the celebrities were clearly visible at recent demonstrations in Lagos State in support of Obi and Tinubu.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) leadership had issued a warning on September 24 stating that its members sponsoring political candidates for the 2023 elections do not reflect the interests of the organization. Nevertheless, numerous actors have continued to promote their politicians.

Remember that the former governor of Lagos State had the support of Nollywood stars John Ikechukwu Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, Harry B Anyanwu, and others before the primary elections.

A video posted to social media showed the pair openly endorsing Tinubu, claiming that he has had a significant impact on society and is deserving of the presidency.

However, Ibu, who is famous for being a comic actor, was sighted by Peter Obi during a rally in Jos, Plateau State, a few months ago, when both men were urging support for the former governor of Anambra.

The ruling party’s 422-member Presidential Campaign Council included a number of actors, including Zark Orji, Jide Kosoko, Gentle Jack, and roughly 21 more performers.

In a same vein, Peter Obi of the Labour Party has received endorsements from notable celebrities like veteran Nollywood actors Kanayo O. Kanayo and Keneth Okonkwo.

As they continue to organize support for Obi, Peter and Paul Okoye of the P-Square and other music celebrities have publicly expressed their support for him.

Innocent Idibia, better known as 2face, Tiwa Savage, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, and other prominent celebrities have remained silent. David Adeleke, the singer and DMW boss, also known as Davido, played a significant role in Ademola Adeleke’s recent election as the governor of Osun State.

Additionally, a number of well-known actors from the film industry, including Nkem Owoh, Yul and Peter Edochie, Ramsey Nouah, Mercy Johnson, Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, and others, appear to be working clandestinely for their favorite candidates.

Mr. John urged Nigerians to use wise judgment when casting their ballots in 2023, emphasizing that any error on their part could cause the country to experience another four years of stagnation.

For me, I am Obidient but I pray we don’t vote for the wrong people this time because Nigeria can’t afford to make that mistake again. It is time to take back our country”, he said.
