Police shoots, kills tricycle rider in Meiran Lagos
Earlier today, some operators of a commercial tricycle, otherwise known as Keke Napep, and some police officers have clashed in the Meiran area of Lagos State.
The cause of the clash is, however, yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Eyewitness reports reveal that chaos began after a tricycle operator was shot dead for refusing to give a “N100 bribe” to an officer.
Tension has envelope the area as several gunshots rang out as commercial tricyclists gathered and became irate, condemning the killing and calling for justice
One Twitter user, @Avalondaily, said, “BREAKING: Pandemonium at Ile-iwe bus stop, Meiran, Lagos – close to model college, as policeman allegedly shoots and kills a tricycle rider.”
The clash has been confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu.
According to him, “The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has dispatched adequate police patrol teams to maintain law and order there. No cause for alarm. Details soon.”
