Police seal off venue for wole soyinka symposium

The police have sealed off the venue of a symposium organized by a group known as Coalition for Revolution (CORE) where Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and some other speakers were to address the state of insecurity in the country.

The program was billed to hold at 46, Ibijoke street, Oluyole bus-stop, Oregun, Lagos.

Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, Affiong Affiong, a lawyer, and Femi Aborishade, an activist were to speak on the theme: “Democracy, State Repression and the State of insecurity in Nigeria”.

On getting to the venue on Monday morning, police vans were seen at strategic locations around the venue.

A police officer told the reporter that he should leave the venue immediately.
