Police officers caught assaulting man in Delta State over alleged bribe

A disturbing video has surfaced showing a group of police officers assaulting a young man in Delta state, Nigeria, over an alleged bribe.

The incident reportedly occurred at a checkpoint where the motorist refused to pay a N100 mandatory pass fee, which infuriated the uniformed men.

In the viral video, the policemen can be seen using batons and other weapons to brutally beat the man while onlookers watched helplessly.

The officers had reportedly collected the man’s car documents and removed his license plate, and when he approached them to have it returned, they viewed it as a confrontation.

The victim initially tried to resist the officers’ assault, but they overpowered him due to their numerical advantage.

Shockingly, one of the officers was captured on the video pulling out a knife from his pouch, despite already being armed with rifles.

According to reports, the victim also received death threats from the police officers for refusing to comply with their demand for a bribe.

The incident has sparked outrage and condemnation from Nigerians, who have expressed concerns about the abuse of power and corruption within the police force.

Calls for accountability and justice for the victim have been echoed on social media and by human rights organizations.
