Police in Osun state arrest three suspects and foil kidnappers attempt

The Osun State Police Command has disclosed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers.

Confirming their arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, on Sunday said;

According to him, “The suspected kidnappers, Barri Galadima, Muhammadu Abdullahi and Hussain Abdullah were arrested by the Command’s anti-kidnapping squad in their hideout at a remote village in Oyo State.”

It was gathered that the bubble burst for the kidnappers when the policemen voided their attempt to abduct one Alhaji Idris Aliu, who is also a Fulani man.

The suspects numbering more than 30 had engaged the police personnel in a fierce gun battle, resulting in a policeman being shot and wounded.

A family source, Yisa Aliu had disclosed that the kidnappers had earlier abducted a member of their family and shot him after collecting N4 million ransom from the family members.

“They also attempted to do the same to my brother this time to collect another money before nemesis caught up with them.

“We ran to Seriki Toyin to help us. We reported to Anti-Kidnapping Policemen and they voided the attempt to kidnap Idrisu,” he said.

Two of the suspects, Galadima and Abdullahi confessed to the crime, while the third suspect, Hussaini who is a Seriki Fulani in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo state denied his involvement.

Meanwhile, the Osun Police boss, Patrick Kehinde Longe has assured that the suspects would face the full wrath of the law and that their fleeing colleagues would be apprehended and prosecuted.

In other news, a Nigerian pastor, Amos Obeten, based in Calabar, has revealed how he was almost initiated into a cult group by a bishop 23 years ago. The disclosure was made in response to a statement by veteran actor, Yemi Solade, who claimed that belonging to a cult group was necessary for survival in Nigeria.

Speaking about his experience, Pastor Obeten explained that he was a young man seeking spiritual guidance when he approached the bishop. However, he was surprised when the bishop started asking him to join a cult group, assuring him that it was the only way to become successful in Nigeria.

According to Pastor Obeten, he almost got initiated into a cult outside the country on one of his journeys for ministration. However, his commitment to the Holy Ghost saved him from the ordeal. He went on to stress that his experience made him question the credibility of some religious leaders in the country.
