Police establish conspiracy in Super TV CEO murder, arrest more suspects

The Lagos State Police have established a conspiracy in the incident that surrounds the murder of Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga.

The State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu said that aside from a University of Lagos student, Chidinma Ojukwu, more suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder of Ataga.

Odumosu said, “We have been able to establish a case of conspiracy in the murder and more suspects have been arrested.

“Chidinma initially was the only suspect that we arrested, but now, we have arrested additional suspects. So, members of the public should know that investigation into Chidinma’s case is progressing.

“The fundamental human rights of the suspects still exist under the constitution. The insinuation that the police want to sweep the case under the carpet, that will never happen.

“We would not have gone that far to arrest her. We know what we went through before we could arrest her.”

As regards the latest video that went viral insinuating that the police were treating the suspect specially, Odumosu said the video is not new as it was recorded three days after she was arrested.

He said, “No matter the propaganda, we will never wither and we are not covering anybody.

“The fact that we allow journalists to interview her does not in any way jeopardise our investigations. These are part of the things that will be out in evidence when we are trying her.”

The police boss added, “The viral video has nothing to do with our investigations at all. It is not to give her any soft landing. There is no any soft landing for anybody who has committed offence outside what the law says.”

CP Odumosu further said, “I stand to be quoted. The police in Lagos will do everything under the ambit of the law on the case. I said earlier that all the leads that we have are being followed and all the information is being verified.”
