Police captures 36 kidnappers, rapists, others in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command paraded 18 suspected kidnappers, eight-armed robbery suspects, seven suspected rapists and three carjackers, TopNaija reports.

 

The state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju, said the command also recovered from the suspects three AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, 199 rounds of live ammunition, five cartridges, one tractor, two vehicles and the sum of N60,000.

According to him, over 36 suspects involved in kidnapping activities in the state have so far been apprehended by his men.

He noted that the feat was the result of the unrelenting efforts of police personnel and the support of the state government and residents of the state.

Adeyanju said, “The command has so far apprehended 36 suspects for kidnapping activities, armed robbery, extortion, rape, car theft and receiving stolen property, among others. Eighteen of the suspects were arrested for kidnapping, eight for armed robbery, seven are rapists and three are for carjacking.

“The recoveries made include three AK-47 rifles, two single-barrelled guns, 199 rounds of live ammunition, one G3 rifle, one tractor, two vehicles and one single-barrelled pistol.”

 

The police, while parading the suspects, also gave certificates of commendation and award to some residents for their assistance to the force in its efforts to rid the state of criminals.
