Tola Azeez, a Nigerian woman who gained attention after a video of her being assaulted by policemen in Iwo, Osun state went viral, has revealed that she is yet to receive the N5 million compensation awarded to her by the court.

In the disturbing video that circulated online a few weeks ago, Tola was seen being flogged with a cane by policemen in uniform. Determined to seek justice, she took legal action against the officers involved and the entire police force.

Tola’s pursuit of justice yielded positive results as the court ruled in her favor, ordering the police to pay her a sum of N5 million as compensation for the damages she endured.

However, she recently expressed her disappointment on Twitter, claiming that the Nigeria Police Force has failed to fulfill the court’s directive and release the funds owed to her.

In a plea to fellow Nigerians, Tola called for their support in urging the relevant authorities to ensure that the court’s order is duly executed.

She emphasized the importance of holding the police accountable for their actions and ensuring that victims of such injustices receive the compensation they are rightfully entitled to.

Tola’s update came in response to someone inquiring about the progress of her case and whether she had finally obtained justice.

In response to a question, one @betawale shared a recent photo and wrote; “Here she is, the lady beaten at Iwo by police officers. her name is @fabhally. The officers were dismissed, court ordered that the police pay her compensation but till now, kobo she never get. This photo was at the hospital after the incident. She is just getting balanced again.

Tola then gave the update via her Twitter account and said she can never forget the pain she went through.

She said; “Alhamdulillah I am living to tell this story. Not easy. The pains I went through can never be forgotten. Still feels like yesterday. Thank you @betawale you stood solid.”

The assault victim added; “This is me. Nigerians you raised your voice for me then. Till now I didn’t get a dime from the Nigerian police. The refused to obey the rule of law. Even after the court pronounced it in judgement that they should pay me damages worth of 5million naira, they have refused.”
