Police arrest eight suspects linked to killing of policemen in Delta state
The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended eight suspects allegedly involved in the killing of several policemen in the Ughelli area of Delta State.
This development comes on the heels of the recent arrest of five individuals connected to the murder of the officers.
Last week, the police disclosed the identities of 12 officers, revealing that six were confirmed dead, while the fate of the remaining six remains unknown following an ambush on February 23 during a rescue operation in the state.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the policemen were attacked by armed assailants while on a mission to investigate the disappearance of three colleagues in Ohoro Forest.
The arrest of the additional suspects brings the total number in custody to 13, as part of ongoing investigative efforts by law enforcement.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Adejobi affirmed that the apprehended suspects are cooperating with the investigation.
The Nigeria Police Force is resolute in ensuring that all perpetrators of such heinous acts face justice swiftly.
Adejobi emphasized the commitment to bringing those responsible for the reprehensible violence to account, offering condolences to the families of the fallen officers and affirming resolve in prosecuting all involved in the killing.
