Police arrest 27 criminals in Lagos hideouts raid
Officials of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested at least 27 suspected criminals during raids on criminal hideouts in different parts of the state.
In a statement obtained by TopNaija on Sunday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said that the Commander, Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, while acting on the order of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, raided different black spots in the metropolis on Thursday and Friday.
He stated that the raids were to strengthen efforts to reduce traffic robbery, cultism and other social vices in the state.
Adejobi said, “In line with the commitment of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, to continually take the anti-crime fight to the dens of criminals and miscreants in the state, the police command has arrested 27 suspects in planned raids of different black spots in the Lagos metropolis in the late hours of Thursday, February 4, and the early hours of Friday, February 5, 2021.
“The arrest was carried out by the operatives of the RRS, being a followup to the directive of the CP to the Commander, Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to place certain spots under surveillance and dislodge criminals hibernating in the spots, especially in Ikeja, Agege and Alimosho areas of Lagos State.
“The raids were also extended to Ile Zik, Dopemu under bridge, Shasha, Orisumbare, Iyana-Ipaja under bridge, Ile-Epo, Abule Egba, Isokoko, Alfa Nla, Capitol Road, Akilo, Marketing and Alausa Central Business District, among others. Those arrested include Olajide Kolawole, 26; Kehinde Ayoola, 25; Dola Abdullahi, 20; Michael Ogungbade, 19; and 23 others.
“The CP noted that the command would continue to intensify efforts to reduce incidences of traffic robbery, cultism and other social vices in the state to their barest minimum.
“While commending the operatives for the successful operation, Odumosu advised parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards with regards to the company they keep as cultism and traffic robbery remain unpardonable crimes, which would not be overlooked or spared as they attract stringent punishments under the law.”
