Police apprehend 3 suspected fraudsters impersonating Kogi Governor's wife

Three suspected fraudsters have been arrested by the police after using the name and office of the First Lady of Kogi State to dupe unsuspecting victims.

TopNaija gathered that the suspects, two men and a woman, had allegedly printed the forms with the name: Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria which they passed off as empowerment platform of Mrs Usman-Ododo.

SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the Kogi State Police Command disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in Lokoja.

According to him, the suspects (names withheld) are being detained in the custody of the Police Quick Response Unit.

The PPRO confirmed that the trio allegedly printed forms with the name: Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, and sold them to unsuspecting members of the public for enrolment into a fake empowerment programme.

He said the suspects reportedly deceived their victims that the said cooperative was the empowerment platform of the First Lady.

“The suspects were nabbed in Lokoja on Tuesday, when an undercover agent approached them and bought the form. The matter is under investigation and once concluded we shall prosecute them accordingly,” he said.
