Pochettino takes ruthless action on Chelsea team

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino was not mincing words when he told reporters earlier in the season that he did not make a comeback to the premier league to play nice guy, and it appears the Argentine is about to unleash the other side of his persona after Newcastle United’s defeat of Chelsea.

The Blues suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat away at the Saint James’ Park to the Magpies, with Chelsea captain, Recce James being sent off following 2 consecutive yellow card offences in the game to leave his team down to 10-men.

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss who categorized the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United as the team’s worst performance this season, has made a swift decision to cancel scheduled rest days for his squad after the demoralizing loss, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Pochettino, who observed the match from the stands due to a touchline ban, witnessed Alexander Isak open the scoring for the hosts, swiftly countered by a goal from Raheem Sterling for the Blues.

However, the second half saw Pochettino’s side falter, with captain Reece James receiving a red card and Thiago Silva involved in defensive errors that contributed to Newcastle’s advantage.

Expressing his frustration after the defeat, Pochettino did not mince words, labeling the performance as one that provoked strong anger. He emphasized the necessity for his Chelsea team to display character and fortitude, highlighting their inability to play such lackluster football.

Pochettino pinpointed the ease with which Newcastle secured the win, criticizing his team’s failure to exhibit the required personality and resolve on the field. Despite acknowledging Newcastle’s performance, he highlighted that their victory was facilitated by Chelsea’s subpar display.
