In a recent interview, new Liverpool signing Alexis Mac Allister expressed his excitement about joining the club and revealed his decision to wear the iconic number 10 jersey.

The Argentine midfielder acknowledged the significance of the number 8, previously worn by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, but ultimately opted for the number 10, recognizing its importance in football.

“I know how important the number 10 is in football. I had the possibility to take 8 which is a big number because of Gerrard but I decide to take 10.”

Mac Allister expressed his delight at fulfilling a lifelong dream by joining Liverpool, describing it as an amazing opportunity. He eagerly awaits the start of pre-season and looks forward to meeting his new teammates.

“It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I wanted to be in from the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.”

Reflecting on his past accomplishments, which include representing his country in the World Cup and achieving success with Brighton and Hove Albion, Mac Allister emphasized his focus on Liverpool and his determination to continually improve both as a player and as a person.

“It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”

The initial transfer fee for Mac Allister is reported to be £35 million, with the potential for it to rise to £55 million according to some sources.
