PHOTOS from tribute night in honour of late City People editor, Bola Davies

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, a special evening of tributes was held honour late Bola Davies at City People corporate office, Gbagada, Lagos.

Bola until her death on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 after a protracted battle with breast cancer, was the Oyo/Osun Bureau chief of leading soft-sell magazine, City People. She has since been buried in her hometown, Akure.

At the tribute service officiated by Pastor Sunday Uche of CLAM, tributes poured in from those who were close to her in her life-time.

Seye Kehinde (Publisher, City People):If there was anybody close to Bola, I am one of them. When she walked in 14 years ago to work with us, she was jovial and full of life. She said she wanted to report for city people and my interaction with her shows she was cut out for the job and we chose her.

‘Bola will commend and praise staff who she has never met whenever she reads any story on the weekly publication. She never disclosed to anyone the extent of her ailment. Anytime I call her, she will discard any form of apprehension and claim everything will be okay. The day she died. I just sent a text to her about her health. She did not respond until the following morning. It was a mutual friend of ours who called me the following day to tell me what had happened.’

Federal girls college Old girls association 1982 set, ‘She was full of life. She joined the old students whats-app group but was not forthcoming with engagement. It was after she died that the group found out that she’s been ill for quite for sometime. They added that she was referred to as BOLA-SWEET during her secondary school days’. The representative of the group presented a flower and took time to sing the school anthem in her honour.

Murphy Adeyemi:I met Sister Bola In Ibadan while he was a Sales Representative. She was the face of City People in Ibadan.’

Kemi Akinyemi, ‘Bola came to City People and we became friends instantly. We were very close till she took her last breathe. It was Bola who built Ibadan office from the scratch into a formidable structure. If Bola writes anything controversial about anyone, she goes ahead to apologise to the person. she never nurtures any grudge.’

May her soul rest in peace.
