Peter Obi Reacts To Tinubu’s Victory

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced his intention to address Nigerians and the international community following the declaration.

The announcement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received mixed reactions from Nigerians.

In a statement on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday afternoon, Obi stated that his vice-presidential candidate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, was already addressing an international press conference at the Labour Party Headquarters in Abuja. He promised to make his own address soon, but did not provide any details on the venue or time.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, contested the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), one of the major political parties in Nigeria.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, contested on the platform of the Labour Party, one of the smaller political parties in the country.

The 2023 presidential election, which took place on Saturday, February 25, was keenly contested by several candidates across different political parties. However, Tinubu and Obi emerged as two of the top contenders.

The announcement of Tinubu’s victory has sparked different reactions from Nigerians, with some congratulating him while others expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the election. Many have also expressed anticipation for Obi’s upcoming address.

The Nigerian presidential election is known for its high level of competition and tension, with different political parties and candidates vying for the position of the country’s president. The outcome of the election is always of great interest to both Nigerians and the international community.

“Our Vice presidential candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is addressing an international press conference at the Labour Party Headquarters in Abuja. I intend to address Nigerians and the international community shortly,” his tweet promised.
