Peter Obi Inciting Nigerians Against The APC -- Bayo Onanuga Alleges

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of making inflammatory comments regarding the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu.

The APC, in a statement released on Friday, slammed Peter Obi for repeatedly condemning the outcome of the presidential election.

The Director of Media and Publicity for the APC PCC, Bayo Onanuga, criticized Obi’s recent interviews on television stations, stating that the former Anambra governor had been spreading lies as if he was still campaigning for the highest office in the land, weeks after the election had been concluded.

Onanuga chided Obi for making “profoundly misleading, criminally false and inciting statements about the election that he lost woefully.” He also accused Obi of deriding the election and likening it to robbery.

The APC PCC spokesperson further noted that Obi’s comments about a stolen mandate echoed the position of his supporters who believe that he won the election due to sponsored polls. Onanuga emphasized that Peter Obi came third in the election, losing by 2.6 million votes to Sen. Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate and President-elect, despite receiving padded votes from his ethnic South-East states.

The statement added that the APC PCC considered Obi’s remarks on TV as prejudicial to the case he had filed and contemptuous of the court. The party condemned the LP presidential candidate for his remarks, accusing him of inciting Nigerians.

The APC called on Obi to accept the outcome of the election and refrain from making comments that could incite violence.
