Pep Guardiola to consider move for unlikely Arsenal star
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing a shock move for Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney this summer as he looks to strengthen his full-back positions ahead of the upcoming season.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester City are actively exploring the possibility of signing the Scotland international and have sought information on his asking price as well as his stance on leaving the Emirates.
The report suggests that Tierney is believed to be open to the prospect of a new challenge, and could cost any potential suitor around £30 million. Furthermore, the player is also being monitored by other Premier League teams, including Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.
Guardiola’s interest in Tierney is not surprising given the player’s impressive performances for Arsenal since joining from Celtic in 2019. Tierney has been a key figure for the Gunners, providing both defensive solidity and attacking threat down the left flank.
If Manchester City do decide to make a move for Tierney, it would mark another significant transfer for Guardiola’s side as they look to build on their Premier League title success this season.
Kieran Tierney has made few appearances this season for Arsenal owing to injury set back and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s form.
With Manchester City in need of reinforcements in the full-back positions, Tierney would provide a solid option on the left side of defense. However, Arsenal may be reluctant to let go of one of their key players, particularly to a Premier League rival.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will follow through with their interest in Tierney, but with the transfer window set to open soon, the next few months could prove to be decisive in the defender’s future.
